The Podgórze Sunrises or How much truth there is in a legend
The PODGÓRZE.PL Society invites everybody with extensive imagination, need to do unconventional activities at unconventional hours, supporters of “new traditions”, mysterious legends, romantics – or crazymen – to check out the legend about a certain sunrise.
On Monday the 21st of June, around 4.30 am, the famous in Podgórze legend of two mounds and the Sun will unveil. The legend states that whoever at that exact time on the Krakus Mound shall witness the Sun rising exactly over the Wanda Mound – and standing in the evening on top of the Wanda Mound, the Sun sets behind the Krakus Mound. This tale is the main reason why many consider the mounds to be Celtic solar signs.

The Society along with numerous citizens of Podgórze (and not only!) is checking the truth behind that legend. With various results;) The time is crazy, but it’s worth seeing how the Sun slowly and soundlessly spreads its rays all over the land and wakens the sleeping. On Monday the 21st of June we shall witness it for the 8th time and as ever, we are going to try to solve the mystery. Let’s meet at 4.15 am on the top of the Krakus Mound, to greet the sunrise and say “good morning” to the slumbering city. Don’t sleep it over – join us!
As every single year, we know what’s going to happen, because Mother Nature herself directs the happening. So, we guarantee a proper atmosphere, full of wondering at the marvels of nature, happiness from the rising Sun and a new, beautiful day. Be ready to greet the Sun with an applause! Naturally, every participant will get a certificate!!!
So see You at 21 June 2010, 4.15 am, on Krak's mound.
