Welcome to the Free Walking Tour website!
The main idea behind our project is to create such a tour in which we would like to be tourists ourselves. The basic difference is that it is You who decides on the cost. We are well aware of the fact that if somebody will not like our tour or simply won’t have any money, that becomes in fact a free tour. But if our clients enjoyed it and think that the idea is welcome, then all support is very much welcome, as, besides doing it out of pure passion, we also have to pay all the taxes, social security and the such, not mentioning a small bite now and again. ;)
In other words, all You may actually lose with us, is Your time! We are also fully aware that the tips we receive are the best feedback we can get about the quality of our tours, so we know if we’re going in the right direction or took a wrong turn somewhere along the way.
Of course, we are not the only such project, such an idea is very popular in Western Europe, e.g. in London, Edinburgh, Berlin, Paris, etc. But there is one huge difference between those tours and ours. According to the Polish law, there are ten cities (Krakow among them), where You can guide only having a license. To get it, oe has to complete a one-year course (about 2 500 zł/500 pounds), passed all the internal exams during the course (around 15) and after that a 3-day long state exam, comprised of the written, oral and practical parts. The level of difficulty is best exemplified through my own experience – out of 40 people who began the course, only 5 passed the state exam and that was considered a very good result. Luckily, I was one of them and became the licensed tour guide of the Royal Capital City of Krakow, to guide YOU! :)

on: 01 Dec 17:21:55I will be in Krakow in January, but I am unsure of the date. My free time will be very limited but I would love to take the free walking tour of Jewish Krakow. I willbe there sometime between Jan. 22 & Jan. 27. Which dates then are there tours? (I was in Krakow in 2005 and did go inside the synagogues, etc., but this time I would like a guide as I walk around....) Also, if I want to end at the Schindler Museum, if I want to go inside, what would I miss?
