Is it really too cold in Poland?

On Sunday 31 of January 2010. Members of Krakow Morse (walrus) Club will have a bath in Wisla (Vistula) river nearby Wawel castle.

Members of this club will start from Adam Mickiewicz statue at 11:00 am(just next to our meeting point) and go walking to the river to have a bath there. As they did last year:

The plan is to swim in relay race from one river bank to another and pulling wawel dragon at the same time. As they manage last year:

Swimming starts at 12:00 between Wawel castle and Grunwaldzki bridge, but organizers say that if river will be frozen (which is actually happened), they will just chop air hole and have a bath there. Which will look similar to:

So what is the reason why people want to have bath in the river when temperature is about - 10 degree?

As it is written at morse club website "We want to show citizens of Krakow that it is worthy to practice sport and to inure their bodies. We hope that what we do will encourage people from Krakow to healthy life style and winter baths"

Don't You think that those ideas are convincing enough to follow ?:)

So if you are not so convinced that it is possible do tour when it is -15 degree, think about having bath in the river during similar conditions. :)

Full schedule of this event is here but unfortunately is only in polish.
