Australian person gave recommendation for January in Krakow:

Krakow free walking tours are by far the best in my opinion (visit http://freewalkingtour.com/). The guides are passionate about Krakow and Poland and work on a tip only basis. At this time of the year the groups are very small and they tailor the walk to suit the needs and desires of the group. The walks go for 2.5 - 3 hours and cover most of Krakow...main market square, barbican, florianska gate, kazimerz, wawel castle, areas relevant to pope john paul II and schindlers list sites and of course the old town. Couldn't recommend it more.
