About

Do you want to know what nobody has told us? Do you want to discover history and art from a Soviet perspective and understand the origins of the division of Berlin, Germany and the world for half a century? This is the tour for you.

The Soviet memorial in Treptower Park is the most impressive example of the Soviet footprint in Berlin. Germany’s largest military cemetery and Western Europe’s largest anti-fascist memorial. The resting place of 8000 Soviet soldiers who died in Berlin will allow us to discover the history that has been hidden from us from the West. An essential and revealing tour to understand German history.

Contents of the tour:

  • The Battle of Berlin and the end of the war.

  • The Great Patriotic War, or the Soviet account of history.

  • Stalinism and art.

  • Nazis vs. Reds: the ideological war.

  • Communism: the new Religion.

  • Hitler’s plans in Eastern Europe.

  • Forgotten victims: women, prisoners and Slavs.

  • Military cemeteries and the political use of grief.

Will is an exceptional tour guide. Knowledgeable to the point of nerdy but doesn’t at all intimidate, totally understands how hard it is to absorb Berlin’s complex history, during and after the Nazi regime. I highly recommend you take this tour.

Great tour with Will, we really enjoyed our time and learned a lot, he’s very knowledgeable and his fun attitude created a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Will felt passionate both about the city and about his job as a guide, he brought a lot of dedication into those over 3 hours we spent all together. A separate and special thanks for always keeping us in the shade on a torrid day 😀
