This tour was excellent and the tour guide was the best we had for any of the trips we did during our visit to Krakow. The guide was full of interesting information and spoke excellent English. He spoke clearly and guided the group around at the right speed so that we could take photographs and have a good look at everything. The tour was very reasonably priced and the guide was clearly passionate about the subject. I didn't catch the guides name but he said English speakers usually call him Jack. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our guide Maciej was one of the best tour guides we've ever had. So dynamic and engaging. We really enjoyed this walking tour and found ourselves discussing what we had learned in the days afterward as we strolled through beautiful Krakow. Highly recommended.
We met Max and his yellow umbrella as instructed and headed off for our two and a half hours Walkative Tour or should I say Talkative tour....because that boy Max really knows his stuff and has a lot to say about everything on the tour.
What a great tour guide and what a pleasurable couple of hours we had doing the tour. Would thoroughly recommend this tour and if I had had another day free in Krakow I would have definitely taken part in one of the other tours on offer. We did also book in and do the Schindler's Factory tour after having done the first tour of the Old Town and although this wasn't a 'free' tour this I would also thoroughly recommend.
It seems all the tour guides from 'walkative tours' really know their stuff.
Well done to everyone involved.
Took the tour and thoroughly enjoyed it - informative and gave an insight to the history of Krakow, as well as contextualising the culture of Poles and Cracowians. Great weather helped, but there was great balance of information, humour and personal comments about the locations.
Jakub was an absolute star in the tour. I have taken many walking tours as a way to start my visit in a city and this was one of the best! Highly recommended!
Jerry (I hope I remember that right) did a fantastic job of showing us 3 local venues and teaching us a lot about the local beer scene, history and culture. We were lucky to have a small group, only 4 guests, which made the tour really intimate and far more enjoyable. It was like chatting with some mates while vitising nice bars and drinking good beer.
Great value for money also.
Thanks for a great tour!
Last weekend we had three tours with Walkative and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Krakow! All guides were really funny and friendly, and had all sort of interesting information to share.
First we did the Street Art Tour with Navia und after we were so enthusiastic about this tour we decided to go for the Old Town Tour with Damian and the Macarbre Tour with Jaczek.
Can only recommend the tours and guides, and if we come back to Krakow, we will definitely do a tour again.
Prior to this tour my knowledge of WW2 was pretty basic other than films.
I can say, I was privileged to have gone on this tour. The knowledge, the passion, the overall enthuisiasm of the tour guide 'Big Tom' made my 2 1/2hrs of Polish history so enjoyable and memorable.
Where the tour started has a more poignant meaning as I was present at a memorial to the Polish Officers killed/murdered at the beginning of WW2 at Katyn - this was endorsed by the attendance of the Polish President.
The 2 1/2hrs flew by and if you were to do just one free walking tour then I'd recommend this one.
Tom, thank you for your passion and keep up the good work!
I did 2 tours in one day they were so great! First the old town with Mario and then the Jewish quarter with Ania. I have done free walking tours all over Europe and these tours were the best-above and beyond fantastic. Both guides were native Polish, well educated, extremely knowledgeable, and passionate about the tour subject matters. They do these tours full time and are very excited to share their history and culture. I really can’t recommend this company enough! They offer a wide variety of tours. I wish I could do them all!
We started the day with Victoria on the old town tour which was informative and a great introduction to the city. We then grabbed lunch in-between tours and headed straight down to the Jewish quarter for your new tour holocaust traces in Krakow which was by far our highlight of our trip. Magic Mitchell was amazing so passionate and provided so much information and made a very difficult topic easy to understand and discuss. Absolutely fantastic would do any tour he was on again! Finally managed to get a last minute place on the Schindler's factory tour thanks to Isabella (...). [It] was just the right length of time in a very very big museum. By the end of the day we had learnt so much including where to get some good food and drink thanks a bunch would highly recommend to anyone in Krakow.
Having spent much time learning the more 'heavy' sides of Krakow's long history, it was a delight to enjoy a afternoon in this museum. The museum is full of interactive installations and displays (...), the artifacts held in the collection are often stunning and illuminating, and our guide skillfully used these small every-day items to feed into broader questions of social and historical significance, how [Krakow's] people have lived, how its influence has risen and waned and now these questions feed into the 'heavier' questions of religion, politics and economics. Can thoroughly recommend this tour.
Came across talkative by accident by overhearing the last 5 minutes of one of their tours at the Gestapo HQ. We decided this was a tour guide not to be missed so we got further details and decided to join him the following day for a most informative and interesting tour of Nowa Huta, the planned communist city that never was (It became a district of Krakow rather than a distinct city).Far and away the best of 5 tours we did in Krakow. This was all down to our terrific guide "Big Tom" Tomasz. His enthusiasm and passion ruled the day! A very personal, detailed and engrossing 4 hours of his shared knowledge and experiences. He lives and breathes his knowledge of and love for Krakow. The experience was like being shown around by a friend and was more conversational in style than a prepared tour script. (...) Thank you Tom!
I actually took two tours from them in a day. One for the Old Town and one for Kazimierz district. I have to say, I enjoyed my time, the guides are very clear and informative and friendly 🙂
I especially enjoyed the Kazimierz walking tour since it was in the evening our guide Dani was an awesome and interesting human being. The district itself is lively and vibrant and gets more during the night. So I recommend taking this tour in the evening.
We've visited Free Walkative tours in Gdansk and Wroclaw and already knew that the most interesting excursions are in Polish 🙂 So in Krakow we knew that we had to choose the Polish guide and we hit the bull's eye. (...) Unfortunately, we were 5 min late and didn't hear the name of the guide, I think he was Martin (sorry if you read this :)). But if you see a guy with a piercing in the nose, in a bomber hat and in a jacket of the forestery officer - this is him, catch him and beg for an excursion! (...) Some guys at the street shouted us that he is the best, and this is the pure truth! He is the source of humour and good mood. The excursion was around 3,5 hours but for us it passed like 30 minutes. (...) The excursion included the whole Old town with different military buildings, churches, museums, cathedrals and Wawel castle. You won't find better offer!
When arriving in Warsaw and looking for things to do we came across Walkative and decided to go with the communist Warsaw tour as we where staying in the old town.
It was a great decision as there was so much to learn about post war Warsaw and Poland up to the current day.
We got to see much more of the city then we would have just being average tourists and the speak had so much energy and knowledge she really topped the experience!
Would highly recommend if you love walking tours!!!!
I had a fantastic time and learnt more things that I can remember and write down by taking 4 walking tours by Walkative Agnes, Magdalena and Bartos. They are all excellent tour guides, very knowledgeable, they carry materials with them that help bring to life all the stories that are telling combined with excellent presentation skills. Absolutely recommended!
Oddly enough, the main town was the last in the various walking tours I have done with Walkative over two trips to Gdansk. There is very little overlap and this one really gives you a solid grounding in the history dating back four or five centuries in some cases. The guide (Macin I think - sorry!) did a wonderful job retelling some of the gore and much of the wonder that’s as old Gdansk. These guides do an amazing job!
We had just one day in Wroclaw and a decision to join Walkative tours was the right one! These guys are amazing! Their stories are very informative, full of history, legends, funny jokes! They took us to all astonishing places of Wroclaw. Perfect for a day trip to this lovely city!
Thank you, Lukasz and Matt for the brilliant tours!
We spent a pleasant two hours walking around Wroclaw, visiting significant historical sites to do with the Jewish community and the Second World War. Our guide Lukasz was very knowledgeable and informative and also very friendly. We learnt a lot in the time we spent with him on the tour and saw parts of the city that we wouldn’t have probably come across wandering on our own. I’d highly recommend this tour and would give Lukasz five stars for his knowledge and delivery of the subject matter! Thanks
