Hello, I’m Jonathan. I grew up in New York and moved to Paris over three decades ago, where I began a long career in financial markets. After years of working at the stock exchange and trading index futures, I decided it was time for a significant change. I wanted to move away from computer screens and into the world of people, a path that led me to become an English teacher and a tour guide. Sharing stories with travellers is what I enjoy most about this work, and I'm happy to be doing so with Walkative since 2024.

What fascinates me most about Nice is how you can see the entire history of human travel reflected in one city, from ancient survival to the birth of modern leisure tourism. There are so many layers to uncover, whether we’re talking about the Roman era, the development of the medieval Old Town, or the Gilded Age architecture. When I’m not guiding, I keep very active; I play on two football teams, ski in the winter, and swim in the summer. I'm also a keen cook and have recently joined an English-language theatre group here in the city.
