About the tour

Long before Berlin became the seat of power for Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, it was here in Munich - the “capital of the movement” - that the seeds of National Socialism were sown. From the beer halls filled with political agitation, to today’s monuments of remembrance, Munich is a city where the rise and fall of the Third Reich is inscribed into the very stones of its streets. It was in Munich that the Nazi party was founded, and it was in Munich that Hitler attempted his first coup, the failed Beer Hall Putsch of 1923, which ended in prison but marked the beginning of his path to dictatorship. It was here that the Nazi party held its mass rallies, built its headquarters, and developed the ideology that would plunge Europe into catastrophe. But it is also here that brave resistance movements, such as the students of the White Rose, dared to raise their voices against tyranny. On our tour, we will follow the traces of this turbulent history. We will see the places where Nazi propaganda was staged and will talk about the lifes German and Jewish people lived under the regime. We will talk about the crimes committed in its name, but also about the memory culture that developed in Germany after the war - a culture that insists on remembering rather than forgetting.Walking through Munich today, a city of beer gardens, art galleries, and Bavarian cheer, it is hard to imagine the atmosphere of fear and fanaticism that once dominated its streets. Yet by uncovering these stories, we gain a deeper understanding not only of Munich, but of the forces that shape history since the 20th century.Join us for a walk through a city where the weight of the past meets the vitality of the present - an exploration of power, ideology, resistance, and remembrance.
