I am Alicja, a Cracovian by choice and a guide by vocation. I originally moved to the city to study the language and literature of Spanish-speaking countries at the Jagiellonian University, Poland’s oldest university. I never imagined I would end up using my Spanish vocabulary every day to explain the complexities of Poland's history, often right within the university walls. Guiding ultimately found me, and I have been showing people around with Walkative! since 2022. It is a perfect match that allows me to meet new people who appreciate my rather ironic sense of humor, while also letting me listen to their own interesting stories and perspectives.

What fascinates me most about Krakow is that even familiar places constantly offer something new. When walking through the Old Town, the environment stays the same, but the shifting daily dynamics mean I am always discovering the city anew. I also frequently guide in the former Jewish Quarter and Ghetto, which prompts deeper reflections on the dramatic events of our history and the individual stories behind them. Engaging with these historical realities means my work does not truly stop when a tour ends. Outside of guiding, I spend my time continuously studying and letting my own understanding of the city evolve.
