Hi, I am Czarek, though tourists sometimes call me Charli. I was born and raised in Gdansk, where I originally studied Germanic philology, but my final thesis naturally centered on the history of my hometown. My professional life has always been split between teaching German and guiding visitors through the complex history and architecture of Gdansk. I have been leading tours with Walkative! since 2018, guiding groups in Polish, English, and German. What I enjoy most about this work is ensuring my guests are comfortable while having engaging conversations with them about culture, shared history, and daily life.

On my local walks, I focus on the historic center and the Gdansk Shipyard, as both represent crucial parts of our identity. I find it fascinating to explain our Hanseatic trade roots, the Dutch architectural influences, and the city's ties to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The shipyard provides a perfect setting to discuss the industrial era and the birth of the democratic revolution in Central-Eastern Europe. When I am not guiding in my hometown, I frequently escort guests on longer trips across Poland, visiting places like Masuria and Warsaw. On these extended journeys, we often trade the usual coaches for hiking trails, bicycles, and kayaks to explore nature and history.
