Jakub
My name is Jakub, and I’ve called Krakow home since 1999, when I arrived to study sociology at the Jagiellonian University. I didn't plan on becoming a guide, but I was always drawn to understanding the processes behind history. It fascinated me that a guide can use the city like a box of building blocks, rearranging the pieces to tell different stories. I started guiding professionally in 2011 and have been leading tours with Walkative since 2015.
My academic studies directly shaped my focus as a guide. For my master's thesis, I researched the former Jewish district of Krakow, and the area’s history remains my primary interest. This specialisation gave me a deep appreciation for the city’s complex heritage. Over the years, this has also led to collaborations with several institutions that work to preserve Jewish history and culture in Poland, allowing me to continue learning and sharing that knowledge.
