Hello, my name is James, and I was born and raised here in Dresden. I am currently studying at the University of Dresden to become a high school English and History teacher, and my deep interest in local history naturally led me to start guiding with Walkative! in 2023. Sharing the background of the place I grew up in is something I truly enjoy, especially since my family roots give me a thorough insight into the city's past. On my tours, particularly the Old Town Tour, I like giving visitors a solid overview of Dresden to help them orient themselves and understand how the city developed.

What I appreciate most about Dresden is its balance; it offers plenty of culture and the lively Neustadt district without ever feeling overwhelmingly large. My favorite spot is the bank of the River Elbe, which is a great place to sit with friends, have a beer, and grill food. When I am not studying or showing people around, I spend a lot of time outdoors camping and bikepacking. Within the city, you will often find me acting at the university theater club, supporting our local football team, or playing chess. I also spend my downtime reading history and fiction, or watching films by directors like Paul Thomas Anderson.
