Nicolò
Hello, I am Nicolò. I am originally from northern Italy near Lake Como, but I have spent the last sixteen years living in the United States, the Czech Republic, and now Germany. After completing a PhD in literature at the University of Pennsylvania in the US, I moved to Prague and started a new career as a tour guide; after six years there, I moved again -- this time just across the border, to Dresden. I enjoy this job because it offers genuine social interaction and allows me to keep exploring history, art, and architecture. In Dresden, I am particularly interested in the city's reconstruction and the broader questions of how urban spaces should deal with their past.
I also have an award-winning novel ("I calcagnanti") out with a major Italian publisher; it has recently been translated to French as "L'enfant et les brigands". It's a swashbuckling adventure story about a Robin Hood-style gang of outlaws, but it also contains tidbits of history, legend, and folklore which I learned about while researching for my tours. My second novel is scheduled to come out early next year.
