Noel
I am Noel, originally from Galway in the West of Ireland, where I spent my early life before moving to Munich. Having never traveled abroad, I bought a one-way ticket in 2003 without knowing anyone or speaking a word of German, simply drawn by the city's central position in Europe. Today, I have lived here for over half my life. I have been leading walking, food, and beer tours since 2016, alongside my work teaching business English. Guiding suits me well because I genuinely enjoy meeting people from all over the world and helping them orient themselves in the city I have called home for so long.
What I enjoy most about sharing Munich with visitors is exploring its local food and beer culture, as well as discussing the practicality of its location at the heart of the continent. Showing people around gives me the chance to connect with travelers and learn about the places they come from. Outside of guiding and teaching, I try to travel as much as possible to see those places for myself and taste different global foods. When I am staying local, you will often find me participating in pub quizzes and trivia evenings. I also spend my free time reading, watching a wide variety of movies and comedy, or listening to music.
