Hello, I'm Ru. Though born in Scotland, I've spent years immersed in Berlin, first through its underground music scene and later as a historical guide. My background is in sound engineering, which connected me deeply with the city's DIY culture, artistic communities, and even the legendary Kunsthaus Tacheles. These experiences sharing stories about the city's hidden sides with visitors naturally evolved into guiding, and I have been leading tours with Walkative since 2021.

What fascinates me most about Berlin is its status as the true capital of the twentieth century, and I enjoy exploring how this history is still visible in daily life. On my tours, we discuss how everything from imperial Germany and the Second World War to the Cold War and reunification continue to shape the city’s architecture, neighbourhoods, and identity. This connection between history, art, and social change is what I find most compelling about Berlin, and outside of guiding, I still stay connected to the music and subculture where my life here began.
