Sandra
My name is Sandra, and I was born and raised in Gdańsk. I have never moved away for long; while I enjoy traveling, I genuinely believe my hometown is the most beautiful place in the world. I studied art history and later Gdańsk studies at the University of Gdańsk, which gave me a solid foundation to share this place with visitors. I have been showing people around with Walkative! since 2015, and I appreciate the free walking tour format because it brings together individuals from all over the globe. Discussing different viewpoints can sometimes push us out of our comfort zones, and I often feel that I am the one who learns the most from the people joining my walks.
Gdańsk is a city of many cultures, and I spend a lot of time pointing out the diverse architectural influences to my groups. It is also a place shaped by political tension, so I am always open to discussing politics and do not mind when our conversations touch on controversial topics. Outside of my interest in art and all things Italian, I spend much of my free time reading. This habit translates into my walks as well, as I am very familiar with tracing literary paths through the city. Following the footsteps of Günter Grass, one of our most prominent local figures, is an aspect of this that I particularly enjoy.
