About

Dramatic mountains on one side, tranquil sea dotted with little islands on the other and in the middle a small gem of a city that is Zadar. A perfect compact combination of Roman, Venetian and Austrian influences, byzantine and romanesque churches, renaissance city walls, a modern vibe and an amazing cuisine and nightlife. Zadar is just the place to be and enjoy life!

Alfred Hitchcock once said that “the sunset of Zadar is the world’s most beautiful and incomparably better than in Key West, Florida”. And honestly it is hard to disagree! Zadar has one of the world’s most ingenious creations that allow you to marvel at the beauty of the sun setting down on the sea. On the edge of the old town there are two amazing works by Nicola Basić, local architect. First there is the Sea Organ – white stone steps descending straight into the Adriatic. Below them there is a system of pipes and whistles. The sea waves pushing the air through it play the most enchanting and mesmerising music in the world. Just lay down on the steps at sunset and get yourself hypnotised by it. The second installation is the Greeting to the Sun monument – multi-layered glass plates that absorb sunlight during the day to produce a magical show of light after the sunset. Both installations form a tribute to the power of nature and create a unique and spectacular effect.

We will start our tour of Zadar at the 2 thousand year old city square, Roman Forum, and see the only one intact Roman column, which during the Middle Ages served as a shame post. Walking through the white cobblestone streets of the Old Town we will see the city walls, a UNESCO Heritage List site and most important city landmarks, including the St. Anastasia Cathedral, beautiful and impressive romanesque temple, the biggest church on Dalmatian coast. We will marvel at the Sea Organs and Greeting to the Sun installation, visit the old execution site which today celebrates the most important figures of the city and last but not least we will introduce you to the places buzzing with life after dark. Join us to discover the amazing Zadar!
