March in Berlin is a time of transition and anticipation. While the calendar marks the official beginning of spring, the city’s weather often remains crisp and unpredictable. It can still be quite cold, so warm layers are essential, but you can distinctly feel that spring is in the air. The days are noticeably longer, and locals are beginning to venture out more, eager to shake off the winter gray. It is an excellent time to visit if you prefer exploring the streets and museums before the larger crowds of summer arrive.

The cultural calendar this month reflects this renewed energy with a mix of vibrant celebrations and historical reflection. On March 7, you can experience a burst of color at the Holi Berlin 2026 – Festival of Colours at B-Part Am Gleisdreieck. This festival brings the tradition of throwing colorful powders to Berlin, offering a lively contrast to the lingering winter weather. The following day, March 8, marks Internationaler Frauentag (International Women's Day), which is a public holiday in Berlin. While shops will be closed, many cultural venues remain open; for instance, the Humboldt Forum is hosting a special program connected to the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition, including workshops and discussions.

For those interested in Berlin's recent history, the exhibition Today yet, tomorrow surely at the Museum Nikolaikirche is particularly relevant. Opening March 1, this filmic exhibition looks back at the upheavals in Berlin around 1990, offering perspectives on reunification more than 35 years later. As the month draws to a close, the city prepares for Easter. Starting March 28, the Easter Market at Alexanderplatz opens its stalls. It is a traditional spot to find decorated eggs, crafts, and a festive atmosphere right in the center of the city.
